The Memorandum of Understanding between the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the Danish Medicines Agency was signed

On November 25, 2024, the Ukrainian delegation headed by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko began a working visit to Copenhagen, Denmark, at the invitation of the Minister for the Interior and Health of Denmark.

The delegation included Maryna Slobodnichenko – Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine for European Integration, Roman Isaienko – Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control, Mykhailo Babenko – Director of The State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and other representatives of the healthcare sector.

The visit aims to establish a Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) in the healthcare sector between Denmark and Ukraine, which will create a basis for strengthening cooperation and contribute to the Ukrainian legislation harmonization with EU standards, as well as to the improvement of the national pharmaceutical industry based on the experience of the advanced and well-functioning Danish system. SSC will provide support to Ukraine on its way to joining the EU.

During the meeting, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control Roman Isaienko and Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency Nils Falk Bjerregaard signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Memorandum will allow to consolidate efforts to counteract substandard and falsified medicines, create conditions for the experience exchange on quality, safety of medicines, medical devices and certification of their manufacture, compliance with GMP/GDP requirements during inspections, organization of activities to strengthen human resources potential, including seminars, round tables, GMP/GDP trainings, and will also become a key to further cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and the Danish Medicines Agency.
