Work is ongoing to develop measures for the full alignment of Ukrainian legislation with the EU acquis in the field of healthcare.
During bilateral meetings between representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission within the framework of the official screening of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU law under Chapter 28, Consumer and Health Protection, which is currently taking place in Brussels (Belgium), a meeting was held with representatives of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission (DG SANTE). DG SANTE is responsible for the EU's policy in the field of health and food safety and monitors the implementation of relevant directives and regulations.
The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine for European Integration Maryna Slobodnichenko, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control Roman Isaienko, Director of the State Enterprise “State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” Mykhailo Babenko and First deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Oleh Osiian, discussed the importance of constant cooperation with DG SANTE, as the relevant directorate of the European Commission, and ways to involve its experts, who have extensive experience in working with governments of EU member states in the context of providing consultations and recommendations on the implementation of European healthcare standards, in European integration process.
