Throughout 2025, the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control worked consistently to adapt national legislation to European Union requirements and expand international cooperation in the field of healthcare.
The representatives of the SMDC of Ukraine participated in consultations and official screening with the European Commission on negotiation chapters 28 “Consumer and Health Protection” and 29 “Customs Union,” as well as in activities to implement the Roadmap on the Rule of Law.
The participation in international training programs and workshops such as TAIEX, EMA/IPA, Natolin4Capacity Building, as well as in events organized by the World Health Organization, in particular the WHO subregional seminar in Copenhagen on ensuring access to vaccines, has become an important input.
Special attention was paid to learning of modern approaches to the regulation of advanced therapy medicinal products – the relevant knowledge was gained by SMDC specialists during the International Conference on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products.
Practical aspects of implementing legislation on medicines quality control and preventing dangerous and counterfeit products from entering the market have been developed in cooperation with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
Active work continued in the EDQM expert committees of the Council of Europe, in particular participation in meetings within the framework of the MEDICRIME Convention and the European Pharmacopoeia.
Important events included the signing on 9 December 2025 of Memorandum of Cooperation with the regulatory authority of the Republic of Lithuania – the State Medicines Control Agency of Lithuania and accession the Human Capital Sustainability Charter by the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control, which was presented and signed at the International Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine (URC 2025) in Rome in July 2025.
The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control remains a reliable partner in the implementation of European standards and consistently promotes Ukraine's progress towards membership in the European Union.
