The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the Youth Council discussed prospects for cooperation and involving young people in regulatory activities

On 4 March 2026 a working meeting took place between the leadership of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the representatives of the Youth Council under the SMDC.

The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control was represented at the meeting by Acting Head Volodymyr Korolenko and Deputy Head for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization Lesya Yablonska. The Youth Council was represented offline by Council Chair Kamila Bondarenko and Council Member Yuriy Boyko, while other Council members joined the meeting online.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation and opportunities to strengthen the role of young people in the activities of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control. In particular, issues of internships and professional development of young people were considered. The participants discussed mechanisms for organizing internships for young professionals in the structural units of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control, which will allow young people to gain practical experience in pharmaceutical regulation and public administration.

They also discussed a potential project for a simulation model of the functioning of the pharmaceutical sector state regulator. Particular attention was paid to the introduction of innovative educational approaches, in particular the development of simulation methods for training young specialists in the field of medicines quality control, manufacturing inspection, and other fields of the SMDC's activities.

The parties agreed on systematic cooperation and the development of joint initiatives aimed at modernizing regulatory processes, introducing European best practices, and bringing fresh ideas to the work of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue constructive dialogue and systematic cooperation. The participants agreed to develop specific steps for implementing the discussed initiatives in the near future. Such cooperation will contribute to the development of youth participation in the activities of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the training of a new generation of specialists in the field of medicines circulation.
