The training event Activity 3.13 “Training SCA Staff on Ensuring Safety and Quality Standards for Substances of Human Origin (SoHO)” within the EU Twinning Project No. UA 24 UF HE 01 25 “Support the Establishment of the State Control Authority for Medicines and Medical Devices”, implemented by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was held in the Republic of Lithuania during 14 to 17 April 2026.
The following representatives of SMDC of Ukraine were invited to participate in the event: Oksana Babiichuk, Head of Department of Licensing of Medicines Manufacture, Blood and Certification and Tetiana Berezova, Chief Specialist of Division of Licensing of Blood System Entities, Department of Licensing of Medicines Manufacture, Blood and Certification.
The experts participated in the training inspection of the National Blood Centre of Lithuania, the Kaunas Compartment of the National Blood Centre and the mobile blood unit. The programme of the event included the introductory meeting, preparation for the inspection, review of regulatory documents and standard operating procedures, as well as practical visits.
During the training, the register of procedures, acts and differences in the legislation of both countries in the requirements for blood system entities were considered. Special attention was paid to the practice of organising the work of blood service institutions, donor halls, mobile blood collection points, as well as approaches to inspections.
As a result of the meetings, the parties agreed to continue the training on laboratory control and substances of human origin (SoHO).
Such cooperation is important for further improvement of approaches to state control and approaching of national practice to European standards.
