MEDICRIME-2026 in Chisinau

The MEDICRIME-2026 International Conference and the 11th meeting of the Committee of the Parties to the MEDICRIME Convention were held in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) on 28-29 April 2026, organised within the framework of the Chairmanship of Moldova at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The representative of State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control took part in the events together with the representatives of the participating states, international experts and organisations, which contributed to strengthening international cooperation in the fight against crimes in the pharmaceutical field.

Participants discussed ways to strengthen the implementation of the Convention, including through improvement of the national coordination and cross-sectoral collaboration.

Special attention was paid to modern challenges: the spread of counterfeit medicines through online platforms and social networks, as well as the growing role of technology in pharmaceutical crime. It was emphasized that this segment is increasingly acquiring the features of a global high-risk digital business.

The importance of effective regulation, market surveillance and inter-agency cooperation to ensure the circulation of quality and safe medicines and medical devices was emphasized.
