State Enterprise “Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Quality Institute”

State Enterprise Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Quality Institute” (hereinafter – SE “UPQI”)

The SE “UPQI” was established on October 18, 2001 by Order of the State Department for Quality Control, Safety and Production of Medicines and Medical Products of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Order of the State Department dated October 18, 2001 No.223) within the EU framework assistance to Ukraine under the TACIS project. In 2001-2006, the second pharmaceutical TACIS project was implemented on its basis - "Establishment of a GMP inspectorate in Ukraine", education and training had been provided for personnel of the Ukrainian inspectorate.

The SE “UPQI” – is a leading State institution working on harmonization of technical and legislative framework of Ukraine in accordance with the relevant EU versions of proper manufacturing/distribution practices.

The conformity assessment of foreign manufactured medicinal products is based on good manufacturing practice standards, and includes, among others, the inspection procedure in accordance with the current legislation. At present, the SE “UPQI” specialists are involved in inspections of foreign manufactures, participate on a regular basis in meetings and seminars (PIC/S) and are actively cooperating with the Pharmaceutical Inspectorates under the PIC/S.

Today, SE “UPQI” is also a powerful educational and advisory center that develops and improves the qualification of specialists in Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry.
