Representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control in the Working group of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the implementation of the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention to the national legislation
Representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control participated in the meeting of the Working group of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to prepare proposals for the implementation of the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health. The meeting was headed by the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Solovyov.
The following issues were discussed during the meeting:
- Preparation of proposals for implementation of the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health, including nutritional supplements and cosmetic products which contain active pharmaceutical ingredients, into the national legislation;
- counteracting medicinal products falsification;
- necessary measures to counteract falsified medicinal products distribution, uncontrolled market of dietary supplements, and legislative regulation on licensing and remote sale of medicinal products, absence of criminal responsibility regarding trade of falsifies medicinal products.
The working group was formed by the order of Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov “in the interests of national security, in order to prevent threats to life and health of citizens of Ukraine due to counterfeiting of medical products and further prevention of such crimes”.
The Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes was ratified by the Law of Ukraine of 7 June 2012 № 4908-VI “On Ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health”.
