Officials of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control took part in live WHO webinar «Strengthening Blood Systems through Effective Blood Regulation»

 

The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control joined discussions on current problems of blood systems, blood products and components, ragulatory basis of blood components as main medicinal products and conducting inspections during the live WHO webinar «Strengthening Blood Systems through Effective Blood Regulation» held during     3-6 August 2020.

The WHO Action framework to advance universal access to safe, effective and quality-assured blood products 2020-2023 was presented during the event.

Representatives of ministries, agencies and regulatory authorities from many countries took part in the webinar. Speakers from the Blood Regulators Network, as well as from American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), International Haemovigilance Network (IHN) and Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) Blood Train presented possible ways of solving problems on the blood and blood products safety and quality.

The strategic aim of the WHO Action framework is ensuring proper functioning of the national standards mechanisms and quality control in the blood systems. It is also expected to ensure the mechanisms of assessment, licensing and certification of institutions of blood systems, development and implementation of national standards and technical requirements for good manufacturing practice (GMP) of blood system, transfusion practice and clinical use of blood, hemovigilance, pharmacovigilance and quality management system.
