Expert mission TAIEX at the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control

The expert mission on ensuring quality and safety of medicines and medicinal products was held online during 7-11 December 2020 in the frameworks of the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX).  

The information on implementation of European legislation within national level, functioning of information systems, distribution of medicines via Internet was shared with participants providing examples of EU countries.  Dr. Lorenzo Montrasio, senior program manager of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) presented general provisions of EU legislation on destribution of medicines and medicinal products in the countries of Europe. Mr. Eduards Bakasejevs, Director of the Border Control Department of the State Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia provided information on EU documents which regulate distribution of food supplements. Mr. Borut Matkovič international expert on market surveillance and independent expert on consumer rights protection, shared experience on conducting market surveillance.

During the five-day event the participants discussed core aspects of conducting control, sampling, penalty system, removal of substandard medicines and medicinal products.

The conducted expert mission demonstrated importance of interactive communication and exchange of experience of EU and Ukraine.
