The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Drug Policy Strategy until 2030 and approved the operational plan for its implementation for 2025–2027

The document will allow the continuation of the state policy on drugs that was in effect until 2020. In particular, the Strategy provides the improvement of access to necessary narcotic drugs for medical reasons, expansion of harm reduction programs, diagnostics, and the provision of psychosocial assistance to people who need it.

State policy in the sphere of drugs will contribute to reducing the use of psychoactive substances and combating their illegal circulation. The goal of the Strategy is to protect people’s rights, improve their health, and enhance their psychosocial and economic well-being.

This is an important European integration decision by the Government, which fully complies with the recommendations of the Report within the framework of the 2024 European Union Enlargement Package for Ukraine, and the adoption of the Strategy is one of the commitments regarding Ukraine’s integration into the European community.

In addition, improving state policy in the sphere of narcotic drugs circulation, psychotropic substances, their analogues, and precursors is consistent with the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations Organization.
