On 10 September 2026, the National Pharmaceutical University celebrated its 105th anniversary since its foundation.

The head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control in the Kharkiv oblast (region) Alla Yushko and the Director of the Department of Medicines and Blood Quality Control, graduate of NPU, Yuliia Zarudska, who conveyed greetings from the staff, management and personally from the Acting Head of the  SMDC Taras Proniv.

During the full-scale war, the University finds ways to develop. Being a flagship of pharmaceutical education, preserving intellectual and personnel potential, encouraging young people to continue their studies in Ukraine and developing the pharmaceutical industry are extremely difficult tasks, especially now, but the University is effectively addressing these critical objectives.

Many graduates of the University work in the SMDC of Ukraine, in the apparatus and in territorial bodies. Every year, many employees receive pharmaceutical education as an additional one, so the 105th anniversary of the University is also their personal holiday.

In 2023, the SMDC of Ukraine and NPU signed Memorandum of Cooperation. Its main objective is to deepen partnerships and develop cooperation, mutually ensure practice-oriented training and skill development, conduct joint scientific research, trainings and certificate programs.

Collaboration with the National Pharmaceutical University constitutes a pivotal aspect in the development of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine. Researchers from NPU are actively engaged in the preparation of its latest edition, DPU 3.0. Specifically, experts from the Department of Biotechnology at NPU have participated in the updating and review of sections pertaining to biological methods of control for medicines (sections 2.6 and 2.7) and general texts (sections 5.1 and 5.2), along with monographs on biological medicines. Furthermore, the department’s scientists have significantly contributed to the formulation of a new article concerning the control of medicines for phage therapy (section 5.31).

Numerous aspects of the operations within both the regulatory authority and the pharmaceutical market stakeholders necessitate expertise that can only be acquired through high-quality pharmaceutical education. The quality, efficacy, and safety of pharmaceuticals, as well as the oversight of their distribution, are contingent upon the professional capabilities of the specialists involved.

The SMDC of Ukraine extends its best wishes to the National Pharmaceutical University for continued advancement, attainment of strategic objectives, enhancement of educational capabilities, elevation of its standing among peer institutions, and productive collaboration with European entities.

Furthermore, the SMDC of Ukraine invites students from the National Pharmaceutical University to participate in internship opportunities.

Esteemed colleagues, we wish you inspiration, resilience, and bravery. May you enjoy a peaceful environment. Glory to Ukraine!
