In Kyiv, the National Police of Ukraine exposed a scheme for realization of counterfeit Russian medicines

Operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in cooperation with investigators of the Main Investigation Department stopped the illegal activities of a group of people realizing smuggled medicines of Russian origin. A number of Kyiv pharmacies were involved in their sale.

Some medicines intended to treat patients with cancer have signs of falsification.

Sanctioned searches were conducted at the places of sale and storage of medicines, as well as at the residences of some defendants in this criminal case.

Police seized Russian medicines, “draft” notes, accounting documents, cash, etc.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under Part 2 of Art. 321-1 («Medicines falsification or counterfeiting medicines trafficking») of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the proceedings, investigators have ordered a number of expertise, and the issue of seizing the seized property is being decided.

In addition, law enforcement officers are establishing the circle of people involved in illegal activities.

Procedural guidance in the pre-trial investigation is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control reminds that in case of doubt about the quality of purchased medicines and suspicion of their falsification, the consumer has the right:

request a quality certificate for medicines from a pharmacy in accordance with the law;

to contact the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control or its territorial authority (contact details of which are available in the sales area of each pharmacy) to provide information on importation into the territory of Ukraine, state control (according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 902 dated September 14, 2005) and the possibility of conducting laboratory analysis of samples of such medicines (in case of doubt);

complete the electronic form for notification of quality/suspected falsification of medicines, which is available on the main page of the official website of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control.
