Meeting on improving access to medicines and medical devices in rural areas

On October 18, 2024, the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control held an online meeting on the implementation of the Decree of the President of Ukraine of July 26, 2024 No. 483/2024 “On Measures to Ensure Access to Medical and Rehabilitation Care, Medicines and Medical Devices in Rural Areas”.

The meeting was attended by representatives of business entities involved in the medicines retail trade, public organizations, Ukrposhta JSC and New Post LLC, and heads of the regional authorities of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control.

The meeting participants discussed the current problems faced by pharmacies in rural areas and made suggestions on measures to improve the situation.

The main discussion topics included:

– challenges related to the accessibility of medicines and medical devices for populations in remote areas;

– the need for state support to open new pharmacies;

– initiatives to optimize regulatory requirements to ensure better accessibility of medicines and medical devices.

Due to the constructive dialogue of the meeting participants, concrete steps for further work were identified, which will increase the effectiveness of pharmacies in rural areas.
