The representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control took part in a study visit to France within the framework of the Twinning project

On 27-30 April 2026, the representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control took part in a study visit to the French Republic, which took place within the framework of the Twinning project. The visit was held at ANSM (French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety) and CHU Lille (University Hospital of Lille).

The aim of the visit was to strengthen the professional capacity in the field of regulation and practical organisation of medicines production in pharmacies, in particular municipal and hospital pharmacies.

During the event, Ukrainian specialists gained a solid practical and regulatory experience of France in terms of approaches to the organization of production processes and quality control of medicines in pharmacy conditions. Particular attention was paid to the application of the principles of Good Preparation Practices (GPP), in particular in terms of:

• Organization of the production process
• Requirements for the material and technical base
• Staffing
• Operation of the quality management system
• Internal control procedures.

The participants also got acquainted with the practical activities of French pharmacy institutions, including the organization of work of municipal pharmacies, the functioning of the hospital pharmacy CHU Lille and the activities of laboratories for quality control of medicines.

Expert discussions were an important part of the visit, during which the experience gained was summarized, the possibilities of its adaptation in Ukraine were analyzed, and potential risks and limitations of implementation were identified.

The knowledge and practical experience gained will contribute to further improvement of the regulatory framework for medicines production in pharmacy conditions, the implementation of GPP elements and the development of approaches to state supervision (control).

The Twinning cooperation has once again confirmed Ukraine’s strategic orientation towards the implementation of the best European practices and the harmonization of national legislation with EU standards.
