The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control Constantly Takes Measures to Prevent the Sale of Unauthorized Medicines

Providing the population with medicines is a very sensitive topic that always becomes resonant and arouses great public interest.

We would like to continue our report on the joint work of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control to expose a number of Kyiv pharmacies that sold contraband medicines of Russian origin, as we already reported in our article of August 2, 2024. The threat lies not only in the fact that medicines intended for the Russian market, labeled in the language of the aggressor, have entered the Ukrainian market, but also in the fact that the ways of supply and storage conditions of such medicines are unknown. It is impossible to determine the quality and safety of such medicines, these products are dangerous and may pose a potential threat to life and health.

Currently, the police are working, a pre-trial investigation is underway, and the circle of persons involved in illegal activities is being established. As part of its proceedings, with the participation of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control, research is being conducted on the seized drugs.

It should be noted that these are not single events with law enforcement. The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control constantly cooperates with the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine based on the relevant memorandums. Such interaction, even under the moratorium, demonstrates the effectiveness of joint work. Now we expect the lifting of the moratorium on pharmacy inspections.

We thank the media for their concern and coverage of this topic, as it will draw attention and increase the level of conscious, responsible attitude of citizens to their health and the health of their families.

The State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control reminds that in case of doubt about the quality of purchased medicines and suspicion of their falsification, consumers have the right:

• request a quality certificate for a medicinal product from a pharmacy in accordance with the law;
• contact the State Administration on Medicines and Drugs Control or its territorial authority (contact details of which are available in the sales area of each pharmacy) to provide information on importation into the territory of Ukraine, passing state control (in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 14.09.2005 No. 902) and the possibility of laboratory testing of such medicines (in case of doubt);
• fill in the electronic form for reporting quality/suspected falsification of medicines, which is available on the main page of the official website of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control (dls.gov.ua).
