US Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) meeting

In May 2025, the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) the USP Convention Meeting brings together more than 500 member organisations, met in the United States

Ukraine was represented by the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and Ukrainian and the Scientific Pharmacopoeia Centre for Quality of Medicines.

The programme covered a wide range of topics: shortage of medicines, impurities, biological products, digital innovations, strengthening regulation and inter-sectoral cooperation in the field of medicines quality.

Opening the meeting, Dennis E. Doherty, USP President emphasised the importance of implementing modern standards that are trusted by both manufacturers and regulators. The President underlined that the creation of ready-made standards helps to reduce the risks of introducing innovations in the quality assurance system.

Roman Isaienko, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control sharing experiences during the CEO Dialogue with Regulatory Leaders presented actions undertaken by the regulator from the beginning of a full-scale invasion to full-fledged control measures.

The USP Convention meetings are a unique platform for cross-sectoral dialogue on the safety, stability of production and supply of medicines, innovation and the fight against drug shortages.
