Representatives of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Contol discussed key priorities during a working visit to the Central Laboratory

What has changed at the Central Laboratory in recent years, how is the enterprise operating under wartime conditions, and what issues require joint solutions? Representatives of the SMDC of Ukraine received answers to these questions during a working visit to the State Enterprise “Central Laboratory.”

Three years ago, the SMDC’s representatives had already visited the Central Laboratory. This time, the head of the Service, Taras Proniv, personally reviewed how the facility operates, what challenges it has managed to overcome, and what still needs to be addressed.

During his meeting with the staff, Taras Proniv got acquainted with the specialists’ work, the company’s technical capabilities, and the specifics of conducting laboratory research. At first glance, the laboratory’s work involves complex methods, instruments, analyses, and protocols. But behind all there is a simple and clear goal: to prevent substandard medicines from entering the market.

That is precisely why the work of the Central Laboratory’s specialists is of direct importance to every Ukrainian patient. During the meeting, representatives of the laboratory spoke not only about what they have achieved but also about the factors currently hindering the facility’s further development.

One of the key issues remains the modernization of laboratory equipment and the strengthening of the material and technical base. For a modern laboratory, this is not simply a matter of comfort or development. The ability to conduct research at the appropriate level and respond promptly to market challenges depends directly on technical capabilities.

“We have to mention not only about what we have already accomplished, but also about what is currently preventing us from working even more effectively. If experts identify a problem, we must listen to them and work together to find a solution,” emphasized Taras Proniv.

There are still many tasks ahead. Among them are strengthening the material and technical base, developing human resources, and further enhancing the laboratory’s capacity to carry out state control tasks.

The State Enterprise “Central Laboratory” is a vital component of the state system for quality control of medicinal products. Its professional competence and technical capabilities are among the essential prerequisites for effective quality control of products on the market.

For the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control and the Central Laboratory, this is a collaborative effort and a shared responsibility. After all, the ultimate goal of this work remains unchanged—to do everything possible to ensure that only high-quality and safe medicines enter the Ukrainian market, and that every patient can be confident in their quality.
